No need to feel too guilty during the Holidays. Every culture on Earth celebrates with special foods. It’s how we gather and share. This need for special times is one of the things that make us human.
To create needed balance, wheatgrass juice is the perfect antidote to cleanse and detox your system. Chlorophyll is your best friend for making internal change, and wheatgrass juice is your best source of chlorophyll. It is known that chlorophyll strengthens the cells, detoxifies the liver, and chemically neutralizes polluting elements in the bloodstream. It’s part of natures plan to restore health.
It’s fun and easy to buy a flat of wheatgrass at your health food store and watch it grow on the kitchen countertop while you use it. Most Co-ops and Whole Foods stores carry the flats in solo or family size. I have added a pic of the solo size in this blog. They are a great way to get started. Lucky for most of us, wheatgrass is not crazy about sunlight or heat, so most kitchens can accommodate a flat for up to a week or more at this time of year.
If you are new to consuming wheatgrass juice, it may be best to begin by mixing a ½ ounce of the wheatgrass with fresh raw apple juice and sip it slowly though a straw. This way your body can adapt to its strong properties.
A great way to use the flats after harvesting is to return them back to the earth with composting. We let our Urban Farm chickens have a go at it before depositing them into our compost bin.
I’d love to hear your experiences with wheatgrass. By communicating together, we learn more. It’s always my favorite way to learn.
