In his book “The Cause and Prevention of Cancer”, Dr. Otto Warburg, winner of a Nobel Prize for Physiology and Medicine in 1931, concluded that oxygen deprivation was a major cause of cancer and that with a steady blood supply of oxygen to all our cells, cancer could be prevented. How easy is that?
One of chlorophyll’s more important functions is oxygenation of the blood stream. Because cooked foods lack oxygen, this essential element of disease prevention can only be found in raw fresh leafy greens and wheat grass.
Presently the market is flooded with dried chlorophyll products to meet the demanded interest in this ‘natural product’. Yet this is one area we cannot cut corners. When foods rich in chlorophyll are cooked or processed, they lose one of the magical ingredients, oxygen. That is because oxygen evaporates in the cooking process.
To offer your body a continual and abundant supply of oxygen you must consume fresh living greens daily. The best way to do this is raw blender drinks, fresh pesto, salads and fresh juices. Joe and I have made a habit of juicing daily no matter how busy we are. I keep a few beds of chard around for this purpose. I nip off the larger leaves that are no longer sweet enough for salad and add them to my Omega Juicer with a variety of other vegetables. Chard is by far the hero when it comes to having easy on hand kitchen greens. I can’t imagine life with out it. When putting leafy greens in the juice hopper, be sure you don’t pack it. ‘Easy does it’ makes greens slip on through.

- 4 carrots peeled
- 1 granny smith green apple
- ½ small cucumber
- 6 chard leaves
- ¼ Meyers lemon
