Bee pollen has been considered one of Nature’s most complete SuperFoods for energy and endurance since ancient times.
Every variety of flower on Earth puts forth a dusting pollen. Busy honey bees flit from flower to flower, collecting many thousands of tiny pollen grains though static electricity in their bodies. Bees thus become covered in pollen. As they attempt to clean themselves, copious grains adhere to tiny hairs on the back of their hind legs and a sticky substance is produced to help pack the pollen into granules. These granules are an extremely potent and nutritious SuperFood for both bees and humans.
*Humane and conscious harvesting collects a little bit of the granules for us humans and leaves the rest for the bees.
AN ANTIOXIDANT SUPERSTAR
Modern testing has found bee pollen to be an antioxidant superstar. Science has validated that bee pollen is the most concentrated source of antioxidants know to humans. With the tidal wave of research now suggesting that ‘oxidation’ at the cellular level is one of the main causes of all degenerative diseases, including cancer, this ancient powerhouse is worth exploring.

CONSUMING BEE POLLEN
You may have read of people sprinkling bee pollen on their salads or casually tossing it in their their smoothies. But, like the potent wheat grass juice, this powerful SuperFood demands we approach it with thought and consideration. It’s important to start off SLOWLY….. WITH VERY SMALL AMOUNTS.
Try a few granules to start and than increase your intake gradually. If it is tolerated well, consider upping to one teaspoon a day over time. The best time to ingest bee pollen for newbies is after a meal.
If you have any questions about your tolerance for bee pollen check with your doctor.
PURCHASING BEE POLLEN
Although the bees do a stellar job collecting pollen, all processed bee pollen is not created equal. The blame does not lie with the bees but rather how humans package and store it after collection.
We learned this after looking to buy bee pollen in the fridge section of our Co-op. We just assumed it was the real deal because it was in cold storage. A closer look revealed in teeny-tiny print that it was pasteurized. We have since discovered that most bee pollen is dried, baked or irradiated. Heat will reduce the nutrient value dramatically .
So we went to work investigating better sources of pollen and came up with ‘CC Pollen High Desert Bee Pollen Granules’. Never pasteurized, these seriously authentic folks ship the precious granules overnight straight to your house in a cold pack. The pollen can then be stored in a cool dark place and will keep for over a year.
